Steps to delete your Amazon account

  1. Cancel Prime and subscriptions. Stop Prime, Audible, Kindle Unlimited, and any Subscribe & Save items first.
  2. Use up gift card balance. Closing the account forfeits any remaining balance.
  3. Open Help → Contact Us. Choose 'Prime or something else' → 'Login and security' → 'Close my account'.
  4. Confirm the email Amazon sends. They send a confirmation link — clicking it starts the closure.

Gotchas to watch for

  • AWS accounts must be closed separately via the AWS console.
  • Kindle books and Audible audiobooks become permanently inaccessible.
