How to Delete Your Tinder Account

Old dating profiles are some of the most sensitive data to leave online. Deleting Tinder in-app fully removes your profile — note that 'unmatching' or just deleting the app does not delete your account.

What Tinder keeps after deletion

  • Messages you sent remain visible to matches you spoke with.
  • Some data retained for safety, fraud, and legal compliance.

Steps to delete your Tinder account

  1. Cancel any subscription first. Cancel Tinder Plus/Gold/Platinum via the App Store/Play Store — deleting the profile does not stop billing.
  2. Open Settings. Profile → Settings and scroll to the bottom.
  3. Tap Delete Account. Choose 'Delete Account' (not just 'Pause'), pick a reason, and confirm.
  4. Confirm permanently. Tinder removes your profile and matches — this is irreversible.

Gotchas to watch for

  • 'Pause my account' hides you but keeps your data — choose Delete for full removal.
  • Deleting the app from your phone does NOT delete your account.
  • Tinder, Hinge, OkCupid and Match share a parent company (Match Group); each app must be deleted separately.
